Bratislava – Nations Cup 5 – 8 August 2010

A very good weekend at the beautiful showgrounds in Bratislava.  The weather was the kindest but a top show was enjoyed by all.

On Friday Billy went very well in the 1.45m Class to finish 6th from 79 starters, and am looking forward to a good weekend.

I joined my South African Team memebers, Johan Lotter, Charles Luycks and Lexi Carter at this show and we entered the Nations Cup for experiance to compete as a team and prepare for the WEG in Kentucky.  Our team did not fair too well but Billy only had one pole down, so I was well pleased.

On Saturday I entered Billy in the Six Bar which we WON clearing a credible 1.9m.  My SA Team Member, Charles Luycks shared the first prize with me by also clearing the same fences on his own horse Ladooga.  I had entered my young horse Corvette in the big tour on Saturday, but decided not to jump him as the going was not too good.

On Sunday in the 1.6m Grand Prix which was a World Cup Qualifier, Billy jumped beautifully, had a clear first round (only three horses went clear from 42 starters), and had 2 down in the jump off to finish a FANTASTIC THIRD.

What a beautiful venue to have a show, breathtaking surroundings and all you could want at a show.

Silver Spring (Johnny) started off the show well coming 29th in the 1.45m class from 54 starters with only 5 penalties.  Goofy came 11th from 43 startes in the 1.50m competition after a very good clear first round and only 4 penalties in the jump off

.  He then kept his form to come 16th from 33 starters with only 4 penalties in the jump off again.

Johnny did very well in the Grand Prix GP Global Champions 1.60m competition coming 16th with only 8 penalties.  I am well pleased.

I am very priveliged to have been invitied to this prestigious show where the top 23 riders in England are invited to ride.  I was invited as the wild card.

I took Connery in the two 1.45m classes.  In the Accumulator we had the fastest time by 2 seconds and was disappointed to hear the joker fall as we went through the finish!

In the Grand Prix, Bill had 2 down but still finished a credible 14th

I took Connery to this show in the UK and was pleased with his performance.  In the 1.45m classes he had 1 pole down in each class.  Happy show

Billy de Laubrey had 2 poles down in both 1.45m classes and finished 13th in the Grand Prix.
