Welcome to my website!
Oliver and Crocket 18
I have a FACEBOOK page, please have a look called OLIVER LAZARUS Fanclub. Please have a look.
Fantastic news to start 2012 – it has been a very rough road over the last year and after a nightmare time at other yards
and a supposed promise of a top position which was untrue – I am over the moon to be back where I belong at the GREAT LUDGER BEERBAUM’ at Riesenbeck. Working hard now and back into the swing of things riding 9 horses or so daily. Thankfully all my horses are with me and Ludger very kindly even let my legend, Crocket move in with his old horses in the fields and he is enjoying his retirement with Gladys and co. Even Mum’s mare, Lillie has a home – so we are well on the way to being back and settled – a blessed relief and exciting times ahead.
Some big developments afoot and now just concentrating on what I love best and that is riding and preparing for the shows.
Doha now behind me and considering being HORRIBLY let down by a fellow rider who had promised the ride of his good horse and then cancelled at the very last minute I did not want to let our SA flag and group down and so took a young, very green gelding called COOL CONCEPT – he travelled well and frankly he really tried in the qualifier but sadly was no match against the quality we were up against. It was indeed a big disappointment but with no other option at least we had a go and had some good experiences with my fellow rider, Nerique Prinsloo and our excellent manager, Bob Neill and his wife Jenny. All in all a good experience and a wonderful venue.
Am off to Doha at the end of December for the Olympic Qualifier for Zone F which includes South Africa and all the Arab countreis.
Some recent results
I took Billy and Flipper Sun to the Sudlohn National Show where Billy came 23rd and clear in 1.40m and Flipper Sun 16th and clear in same class. There were 73 starters in this class so was well pleased.
In the 1.50m Grand Prix Bill had just the last pole down and Cool Cocept had a super round with an unlucky pole down – there were 61 starters in this class. I am pleased with this as good opreparation for Doha
29 October 2011 – Took a couple of the youngsters to a show at GRONAU, was really happy with their improvement. BIG BRO had a clear round in the first M** class and just one down in the next M**. BILLY jumped in the big class and was unfortunate to have a pole down – really unlucky! Kimberley and her mare Alex had one pole down, so a good weekend for TEAM LAZARUS!
I have posted some videos of some of my recent rounds in my GALLERY as well as some new PHOTOS
I have also posted some new photos of Kentucky World Equestrian Games in my GALLERY, have a look

He will gain invaluable experience which he will be able to bring back and share with other grooms on his return in 3 mnths time.

Oliver Lazarus is now fully settled in to his fantastic new yard in Hoven, near Munster Germany. The facilities are excellent with a full size Derby course, all weather outdoor arena, indoor arena, walker, solarium, comfortable stables, working area and relaxing lounge overlooking the indoor. There are plenty of outrides too (of course that is if the weather holds up)!
Oliver is now offering training and particularly wants to focus on riders from his home country, South Africa and help them to prepare to compete on the international circuit. He is fully aware of how tough it is to be away from home, on your own and try and make it at the top of the sport and with his wealth and depth of knowledge at such a young age he is excited to pass this on.
So if you are considering a life in international show jumping he is most definitely the man to speak to. Please email or call direct to Oliver to arrange a visit : 0049 1515 04 03 170 www.oliverlazarus.net

So we were pretty happy with these results. Then on the Wednesday (as we were out of the top 10 results) we rode individually and you cannot imagine our bad luck, Ol was in the practice arena before coming in and said Johnny (Silver Spring) not jumping good – anyway he went in and disaster Johnny could barely get off the ground half way round the course – we were SO devastated – Ol tried to hold it together and Johnny was taken immediately to the vet – we could not believe this misfortune as he has been fantastic for the last few months and we did not want to think we had misjudged his character and that he had no heart – after two heavy days of vets, scan, xrays – in many ways it has been a relief to find out Johnny had damaged his sheath around the coffin joint and the vet could not actually believe he or Ol even got him over any jumps at all,. he has a huge heart. It has been a horrific blow as of course after the first two days it looked like Ol would be in final 20 on the Friday night and been noticed.
Since then Oliver has shown complete resilience and fortitude and thankfully the big boys in the sport who know what it is all about have commended him for his riding so well in the circumstances and said there are lots more to come. But you have no idea how sad we felt after all the years of work and sacrifice. Johnny left yesterday back to Liege and a good rest.
We are back in Germany on Tuesday hopefully preparing for Hannover in a few weeks. Just a quick thank you to all who have supported and been there for us, please keep it up, you have no idea how we appreciate your input.
ANOTHER FANTASTIC SHOW THIS WEEKEND (5 – 8 AUGUST 2010) IN BRATISLAVA

DRAMMEN - well I have done it – Sunday 27th June 2010 in Drammen Norway, first in the NORWEGIAN GRAND PRIX with the scopey SILVER SPRING (aka Johnnie) owned by Dave McPherson. The course was trickey with 74 starters, Johnnie took the entire course in his stride to make a faultless round and then the last to go out of 4 clears he made it look so easy to comfortably WIN. Another wonderful moment to see the South African flag being raised and our wonderful national anthem being played in the presentation. Johnnie particularly enjoyed drinking the champagne water out of the huge silver cup he won! So far he has been clear in all the seven rounds that I have ridden him in. Please look at the Recent News for Drammen for photos and updates.

I am a highly competitive INTERNATIONAL show jumper. I compete for South Africa, having gained full National Colours in June 2006, on the European circuit with my talented team of horses. My horses are stabled with Otto Becker and I have an apartment nearby. I hope you enjoy my website which is constantly updated with news and happenings as well as show results
I currently own and compete successfully on Crocket 18, a young grey warm-blood, as well as Cassiano Z, who is known affectionately as Goofy. So, I am fortunate enough to own two wonderful horses and compete all over Europe on them both. I have recently acquired a new youngster, Corvette 21, who is 7 years old and will be part of my string. I will be bringing him along slowly as he is showing a lot of potential. I have also acquired 3 new horses from America, Billy de Laubrey an 8 year old bay gelding, Connery and Waldman Doo a 10 year old Belgium Walmblood. It is early days wih them, but hopefully I can form a good partnership and achieve the results they deserve.
